By Melvin Haisler,
School is back in session and Red Lodge Rams students are ready to volunteer their time to local nonprofits!!
Volunteering not only helps a non-profit gain valuable skills from students, but the benefit to the student far exceeds the service provided to the business. Students gain valuable knowledge of work expectations, being on time, following instructions, and working with other employees. This experience will be beneficial on a resume for not only employment but will also be helpful for college grants and applying to colleges or trade schools. However, the most crucial lesson learned will be realizing that volunteering “just feels good.”
Red Lodge High School students are about to meet non-profit organizations to view volunteering opportunities. About 200 students and 20 plus non-profits will meet in the Red Lodge High School Gym on October 8, 2019, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM to match opportunities with interests. Students are required to complete a minimum of 20 volunteer hours to graduate from high school. Many students set their goals much higher as several have earned over 100 volunteer hours this past summer.
The Red Lodge Area Community Foundation has sponsored this student interaction for many years.
Any non-profit interested in having a table on October 8, 2019, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM may contact Melvin at Melvin@rlacf.org or call 406-426-0419
