CART on Q2 News

“The program, called Carbon County Area Ride and Transit (CART), has existed for three years, and gives Carbon County residents rides for medical appointments, grocery shopping and other stops. Typically, these rides are from their homes in Carbon County with destinations as far away as Billings.”

Help keep CART on the Road

Thanks to generous community support, as of June 1, 2024 the Neighbors Helping Neighbors Campaign has generated $77,724 to support CART. This includes a $25,000 match donation that was achieved thanks to the outpouring of support. We are incredibly grateful for Carbon County’s commitment to transportation access for all.

CART provides public transportation to county citizens of all ages and abilities who need a ride someplace in and around Carbon County. Rides are available five days a week within the county and additionally to Billings for medical appointments three times a week.

CART is currently the ONLY public transportation service offered within the county.

Montana has endured a recent wave of assisted living facility closures, with three facilities closing in the area.  CART is an essential service that helps residents age in their local communities.

Without CART, many of our neighbors are unable to meet basic daily needs like going to the grocery store, pharmacy, doctors’ appointments, post office, and social gatherings at the senior center to combat the debilitating effects of isolation.

Despite State and Federal funding provided through the Montana Department of Transportation (MDT), business and individual donations, Fun Run donations, passengers paying what they can, AND a reduction in staff, a funding gap still exists.

Will you help CART stay on the road for your neighbors by donating today?
