Overview of the Carbon County Historic Rehabilitation Grant Program

The Carbon County Historic Rehabilitation grant program (CCHR) is an initiative to fund brick-and-mortar projects involving historic properties in Carbon County, MT. CCHR is supported by the National Park Service’s (NPS)  Paul Bruhn Historic Revitalization Grant  with funding from the Historic Preservation Fund. Throughout 2024 interested businesses, public entities, nonprofits, and individuals submitted their project proposals to the Historic & Economic Recovery Group which rigorously reviewed the applications, with grant requests totaling $1.9M. After careful review, eight projects were selected to receive reimbursement grants.

All eight projects are recognized for their ability to contribute to the cultural and economic vitality of Carbon County and will help serve as examples of how other property owners can take the necessary steps to make sure their buildings last for generations to come. Throughout the remainder of 2024, grant recipients will collaborate closely with RLACF and the National Park Service to ensure the proposed work aligns with the guidelines necessary to maintain the buildings’ historic significance.
