Share Your Voice About Aging in the Community
More than half of Carbon County residents are 50 years of age or older and this number is increasing by the day. This aging population trend is taking place all around the country, with the number of Americans ages 65 and older estimated to more than double by 2060. As our population changes, needs change as well and it’s imperative to prepare for these changes before they happen.
The good news is that there is a local, community effort focused on this age-friendly initiative. To be successful in our endeavor as a community, your help is needed. You can share your voice through a brief survey on how well the community currently addresses aging and the needs of the community in eight different domains. People of all ages are invited to complete the survey. It is completely anonymous and will be immensely helpful in working towards an age-friendly community for everyone. Survey results will not only guide the age-friendly steering committee, but raise awareness on community concerns.
The survey is available in both printed and online formats. You can find paper copies at local clinics, the Red Lodge Public Library, and the Red Lodge Area Community Foundation. Completed paper surveys can be returned to the location you picked them up, to the Foundation at 122 Hauser Ave S, or by mail to PO Box 1871, Red Lodge, MT 59068. A link to the online survey is available on the Foundation’s website and through the Foundation’s Facebook page. The last day to submit the survey is Friday, November 17th.
Thank you to each partner of the age-friendly initiative: Beartooth Billings Clinic, Mountain View Clinic, Riverstone Health clinics in Bridger and Joliet, the Red Lodge Public Library, Active Transportation, Carbon County senior centers, and local churches.
